Asus is getting ready to improve the experience of gaming on handheld devices with the launch of the ROG Ally X on June 2. The next version is expected to meet the demands of gamers with enhancements that go beyond the current version of ROG Ally.
The device's reveal was announced in its ROG Pulse broadcast, which was hosted by Jake Kulinski and Whitson Gordon the details of the device were revealed to the eager viewers.

The Asus ROG Ally X is advertised as an evolution rather than a radical change of model. It has its Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor and the same 120Hz VRR screen seen in the regular ROG Ally 2023 (Review), ensuring continuity in terms of performance and image quality.

Other changes announced include a jump in system memory to 16GB, and an increase in storage options. The shift between an M.2 2230 slot into the standard M.2 2280 slot targeted at making upgrades simpler for users.
Connectivity is also improved by moving from one USB-C port to two, together with a newly positioned microSD slot that protects the cards from heat damage caused by exhaust. The improvements don't stop there at the hardware. For instance, the ROG Ally X is expected to come with interchangeable joysticks for control and will be available in a black colour variant.
The product's design and style remain unchanged while retaining the familiar ROG Ally series design. The software will also receive an upgrade. Asus plans to upgrade their Armoury Crate SE software to version 1.5, which will enhance functionality and aesthetics. The upgrade will be made available to users of the ROG Ally X and then rolled out to the current ROG Ally 2023 version, which Asus has committed to supporting.
